Crowns, Fillings, and Veneers

A beautiful smile begins with healthy and functional teeth. Dr. Thomas and his team will help you achieve your dream smile through a number of different treatment options. These include crowns, fillings, and veneers. After an initial visit, we will help you decide the option best for you. Here is a breakdown of the different treatment options.

Crowns can be used to cover a decayed tooth, an unstable tooth with a big filling, or they can be used on top of a dental implant. Whatever the reason, a crown will match the shade of your other teeth and help to complete the look of your smile. Metal, zirconia, porcelain fused to zirconium, porcelain fused to metal, or ceramic are different types of crown materials.

Cavities form from decayed teeth. If you have poor oral hygiene or eat and drink items with a lot of sugar, the outer layer of your tooth can become damaged. Slowly, acids and bacteria build-up on and around your gums. These bad germs eat away at the layer protecting the tooth called the enamel. A cavity, which is a hole your tooth, forms when the enamel is eaten away on the surface of your tooth. The best way to prevent further damage is to fill the hole. There are four main types of fillings: amalgam, composite resin, gold, and ceramic. Talk to Dr. Thomas and his team to find the best option for you.

If you are unhappy with the look and the shape of your smile, you may want to invest in dental veneers. Most veneers are made of porcelain and are added to the front of your tooth with a bonding glue. During your first appointment, Dr. Thomas and his team will take an impression of your mouth. This will then be sent to a laboratory where they will create a custom cover for the front side of your tooth. During your next visit, your tooth is ready to place. Dr. Thomas will attach your veneer to your tooth with an adhesive solution. Your new smile is permanent and will last for up to 15 years.

With any new procedure, it is important to prepare for the treatment and properly care for your smile afterward. Talk to Dr. Thomas and his team about all of the options before choosing the best one for you. After your treatment, make sure you maintain good oral hygiene to help your crown, veneer, or filling last longer. Lastly, remember to visit Dr. Thomas at least twice a year to keep your teeth healthy.
